About The Walling Journal
Walling has always been about helping people organize and express their ideas visually. Its journey started in 2019 from the vision of a single founder who built the application to what it is today over a number of years of dedication.
In August 2024, Walling was acquired to continue that vision with a renewed sense of excitement and promise. We immediately brought in an experienced engineering team to help us push forward that vision; however after 6 months of effort, we realized the approach wasn't aligned with our long-term vision.
So, in April 2025, we scrapped that work and we began a full rebuild of Walling — a ground-up redesign of the product’s architecture, experience, and foundation for the future.
It’s been a long, complex journey. And while most of the work happens quietly behind the scenes, we wanted a transparent way to share progress, thinking, and lessons along the way.
The Walling Journal is that window — a live look into the rebuilding of Walling.
What you’ll find here
This isn’t a marketing blog. It’s a builder’s journal — part progress log, part reflection, part preview.
Every month, we’ll share:
- Development updates — milestones, improvements, and architecture highlights.
- Design insights — how we’re rethinking user flows, structure, and collaboration.
- Behind-the-scenes stories — lessons, tradeoffs, and the thinking that shapes our product decisions.
Each post connects back to one goal: building an improved experience, faster, more reliable, and more empowering Walling.
Why we’re taking this approach
Rebuilding Walling isn’t just a technical challenge — it’s a philosophical one.
The product you use today is the foundation for something greater, but we realize we needed to reimagine its core. Rather than refactoring older technology, or rushing out incremental fixes, we chose to do it right, even if that meant taking more time and investment. What this means in the long-term is that we'll be able to address commonly requested features more easily and quickly, building a product that can grow as your needs adapt.
Sharing our journey here keeps us honest, focused, and connected to the community that’s believed in Walling from the start.

We can't commit to a specific date yet, but we're sharing monthly progress so you can follow along. - Will my data be safe?
Yes. Your data will not be lost or deleted as part of this rebuild. We will be developing a data migration process to ensure we smoothly transition from the current version to the new version. - Can I still use the current version?
Absolutely. It remains fully functional while we build.
